This benefit is for my mother, Barbara Bryson.
She has been diagnosed with
Squamous cell carcinoma with extensive bronchi involvement (lung cancer).
It all happened so quickly, with no warning.
- My mother went to the ER March 22nd with back pain and shortness of breath.
The ER took x-rays and found a shadow on her lung. - The ER sent her to an oncologist on March 24th.
- She had a full body scan for cancer on March 30th. They detected the lung mass, but no other cells had been affected. The size led the Dr. to believe it was a stage 3.
- My mom was admitted to the hospital and had surgery April 6th. They took her lower lung lobe, and part of her rib and chest wall that the mass had attached to. Biopsied her lymph nodes (they were clear). It turned out the mass (squamous cell carcinoma) was only a stage 1.
- My daughter Amanda's graduation was May 19th, so she insisted they hold off the chemo treatments until she could see her graduate.
- She has had her first chemo treatment 3 days ago (May 26th) She will have to have 6 treatments, 3 hours at a time, every three weeks.
All of this came so quick and it was such a shock. I really thought I was going to lose my mom. She was in shock from the beginning. All she could keep saying was that she was not ready to die. I was not ready either. She and I are so much alike, I get my creativity, stubbornness, and independence from her.
She was a smoker, but she quit 20+ years ago. Unfortunately, cancer runs rampant in our family. Her father died of lung cancer, her mother died of intestinal cancer, her brother of brain cancer, and that is just immediate family :(
My parents have insurance through the Veterans Administration (my dad is a decorated Vietnam veteran). Though having insurance is a God send, they still owe 25% of the bills. The hospital bill alone was $123,252.04. Stress test pre-surgery, $3000, and the full body scan x2 was another $3500 each. Now there are medicine bills, chemo bills, and other bills that just seem to pop up out of nowhere. There is NO WAY they can pay all these bills on a fixed income.
The following colors were created all for my mom, with 100% of the proceeds going to hospital bills.
These are LIMITED EDITION COLORS, and will never be made or sold again after they are sold out.
I will be donating all of the jars, etc, so 100% of the sales will be donation.
Her biggest dread has been losing her hair. I just couldn't even imagine. As women, our hair is so much a part of who we are :( I told her I would get her any wigs that she wanted.
My dad is retired, and has heath problems of his own. I have helped all I could, but with Bruce's (my husband) recent hospital drama, I am really tapped out on any extra money to do more.
I am throwing myself on the mercy and generosity of all my customers to help me help my parents.
As many of my regular customers may remember, last year I did 2 benefit colors for a friend, Tinkerbelle. She had breast cancer, and her limited insurance did not pay for any of the reconstruction costs, which was $10,000.00
Due to the generosity and compassion of the greatest customers in the world (and all over the world!) We raised over $5000.00, and made the difference!!
This time, it is even closer to my heart, my mom. A special wife, sister, mom, grandma, and lady.

My mom is a natural/neutral shade lover.
When I asked her what color was "her", she told me a light brown.
Since my mom is not an ordinary lady, neither is this color :)

This is my favorite color, and it has been impossible to photograph.
Love is a darker dusty rose, with a lighter pink interference, and exquisite red/pink shimmers.
Would also make a great lip color mixed with the Pure Shine lippie!

This is a "tri-color" interference.

I loaded this one with red holographic shimmers.
